Alvingham
Lock March 2006
As
one of the grade II Listed Locks the LNT are
considering whether this should be the starting
point for the restoration of the locks. This would
involve a bid for Heritage Lottery Fund money, but
would create a marvellous area for Alvingham if both
the lock and the old wharf were to be restored.
This picture, taken in March 2006, shows the south
wall of the lock, and that, compared with the other
listed locks, it is still in a reasonable state.
It is important that work on restoration starts soon
as all the industrial structure of the canal is
gradually decaying.
The Trust are committed to full restoration of the
canal.
